It's old news, but good news.
Last weekend we went to the Kalamazoo Nature Center.
We havent been there before, so we thought that itd be nice.
It was.
They had animals there; we saw some goats, and a 15-hand pony(thats pretty big for a pony). I took my moleskine watercolor book with me, and had it not been for all the people, i would have gotten in a sketch of the pony.
They also had a butterfly house, but there werent many in there.
But we found a really neat trail that went behind the Interperative Center ( like a wildlife museum) and it had just beautiful scenery. We walked into a valley basin, and there was a little stream carving its way through to Kalmazoo River. They had a deck overlooking the river, which is really nice. Its so peaceful. I painted a sketch of the valley, which was v-shaped. It was a glacial valley, and there were rocks scatterd against the walls. I wonder how far south those rocks were pushed, or how far they drifted in geological terms. Alot of these rocks, and other concerned sediments were found to contain traces of copper and iron from formations in the Upper Peninsula. Then one day the glaciers that pushed those rocks melted, and created The Great Lakes. Its always interesting to see something like that, and you remember that the world went on long before you were around.
I will get the sketch up, I have been hating my scanner for a long while; I think I need a new one.

Thank you so much for the favourite. I´m glad you liked my work.
